How does our no-claims discount work?
|
| A no claims discount rewards you when you don't make a claim on your policy. With Option 7, every year you and your family are covered by the policy and don't make a claim, you will be rewarded with a no claims discount to a maximum of 50% on the no claims discount scale as displayed below. If you, or any member of your family covered by the policy, does need to make a claim, we will reduce the no claims discount for that person by three steps, however many claims are made in the year. The remaining who have not claimed, will be rewarded by moving up the no claims discount scale - unless you are already at the highest step of 50%. The no-claims discount scale
If you or anyone included on your policy have made a claim since last year's premium was calculated you have the option of paying back all claims paid since then. Provided you do so within 30 days of your renewal date this would have the same effect as if no claims had been made on your policy and your no claims discount would increase by one level in the following policy year. Once you reach the maximum NCD level you may be eligible to protect your NCD level so that it will not be affected when you make a claim.

This policy includes cover for in-patient, day-patient and out-patient treatment of cancer including radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Where licensed chemotherapy drug treatment is necessary for a prolonged period of time, if you have Option 8 this will be covered for up to three years - no annual maximum.
This Option is only available in conjunction with Option 3.

How does the six-week option work?
|
- As normal, you visit your GP with any medical problem.
- If more tests and investigations are requested, the GP will arrange for you to see a specialist for a consultation.
- If the specialist decides that surgery is necessary, he will check your local NHS waiting list. If the surgery required is for one of the 9 immediate cover procedures listed below, you are eligible for private treatment straight away.
If the NHS waiting list is more than 6 weeks, again, you can seek immediate private treatment. If the NHS waiting list is less than 6 weeks then you must go via the NHS, for which you would wait no more than 6 weeks.
|
The 9 Immediate Cover Procedures
|
- Adenoidectomy
- Correction of Squint
- Insertion of Grommets
- Tonsillectomy
- Cataract Surgery
- Removal of Gall bladder
- Removal of Bunions
- Haemorrhoidectomy
- Varicose Veins
These procedures are not subject to the 6 week rule - regardless of the NHS waiting list, treatment for these conditions will always be private. This is also true for day-patient and out-patient radio/chemotherapy, subject to the condition/symptoms not being pre-existing prior to joining.
